Nursery:

Nursery care is provided for infants and toddlers during the 10:00 a.m. service. Our sound system carries the service into the Lounge area (just outside the back door of the church, near the nursery) in case you need to temporarily leave the church to comfort a crying child or prefer to nurse your baby there.

Sunday School:

Sunday School is offered for children ages 3 years old - 6th grade every Sunday morning at 9:45 a.m., with the children joining the adults in church at the Offertory.

The Pre-K class (3's and 4's) uses the Episcopal Children's Curriculum.

There are three Godly Play classrooms (K-1st grade; 2nd-3rd grade; 4th grade). Based on sound theological and developmental theories, Godly Play catches a child's imagination and wonder. Each child has a relationship with God, and Godly Play helps the child build on and explore that relationship Each session follows the pattern of the church's Sunday worship, so children will have a deeper understanding and enjoy fuller participation in worship. The room contains shelves full of objects for children to use objects that make the images of our religious language come alive. The multi-sensory materials are used to help in telling the Bible story of the day.

The 5th-6th grade class also uses the Episcopal Children's Curriculum, and goes deeper into topics such as the Bible, the Sacraments, and the life of the Church.

Junior and Senior Youth Groups:

Youth in grades 8 and up are invited to participate in the youth groups. Contact Gary Giglio at 591-0029 for more information about the senior youth group, for students in 10th - 12th grades, and Joel Daniels for more information about the junior youth group, for 8th and 9th grades.

OTHER ACTIVITIES FOR KIDS:

Kids' Outreach Club: Kids in kindergarten through 5th grade are invited to take part in the Outreach Club's seasonal activities. Last year we made Halloween treats for children with AIDS, brought Christmas cookies and carols to homebound seniors, and made Easter baskets for friends away at college.

Children's Choir: Directed by Sandy Summer-Parks, our Children's Choir rehearses every Sunday at 9:00 a.m. in the Parish Hall and sings at one service a month, as well as performing at special events like the Christmas Pageant and our celebration of St. Barnabas Day.

SPECIAL EVENTS:

Easter Egg Hunt: In a St. Barnabas tradition, children up to 5th grade are invited to come hunt for Easter treats in the back garden after the 10:00 a.m. service on Easter Day.

St. Barnabas Day: To celebrate the close of the Sunday school year, each June we celebrate St. Barnabas Day with an outdoor service led by our children and youth, followed by a picnic in the churchyard.

Christmas Pageant: Starting at age two, children are invited to take part in our annual Christmas Pageant. This dramatic retelling of the Nativity story, complete with music and costumes, never fails to show us the true meaning of Christmas. Rehearsals begin in November.
