PAST EVENTS

+++ Many joined us for last year's Special Lenten Series Wrestling with Angels: An intimate look at some tough questions of life.  "Why didn't God answer my prayers?", "If God is so good, why is there so much evil in the world?", "The Bible says to forgive, but how can I?"  This 4-part video series examined the varied experiences of ordinary people as they challenge issues of faith from a variety of real-life situations. Each episode opened with intimate conversations with people who told about their personal spiritual experiences. (The series' title comes from Jacob wrestling with the Angel of God.)

+++ Lenten Retreat
A small group from St. Barnabas attended a silent retreat at Holy Cross  monastery in West Park, New York, on March 5-7. The retreat, entitled "Food For the Desert Places," was led by Suzette Cayless.

+++ The Annual Dinner-Meeting
At St. Barnabas, we have a 50 year tradition of holding this meeting the last Tuesday of January, rain or shine, snow or plague of locust! We always have 100 - 135 people at this event, and at St. B the evening is always upbeat, fun and lively.

Last year we received the carefully tooled new Mission Statement prepared over the past 8 months by a special committee headed by Janet Wynn and also worked on by the Vestry in the past two months.

+++ St. Barnabas 101: Back to Basics
During the season of Epiphany the Christian Education Committee presented "St. Barnabas 101: Back to Basics."  Members of our parish lead the discussion on, "The Worship: What's Going On?,"  "The Space: Candles and Curiosities," and "The People: Roles and Recollections."
